(A)WAY magazine would like to receive stories about your experiences as an expat -- ranging from the tender and unusual to the funny and scarcely believable (though mostly true, of course). Stories may be rewarded for their verve, wit and invention, and should not exceed 1,500 words.
A panel of judges will select the winning story which will be published in the September/October edition of (A)WAY magazine.
Submissions must be written in English and all entrants must be 18 years or older.
There is no entry fee.

‘Foreign Affair’ – Writing Competition 2011
Terms and Conditions
1. The competition is open to adults over 18 years of age, and all professions and nationalities. There is no entry fee.
2. All entries must be original unpublished prose of 1,500 words or fewer and written in English.
3. Entries should not be extracts from longer works.
4. Writers may each only submit one entry.
5. It is a requirement of the competition organisers that all entrants be registered on http://www.caravanpress.eu/register. Winners will be notified at the email address stated in their registration data. Sign-up for the writing newsletter if you want to be notified about the winner.

7. The closing date for entries is 15 June 2011. Entries to the competition will not be accepted after that date.
8. A shortlist of entrants’ names will be published on www.awaymagazine.be and/or www.caravanpress.eu
9. By submitting an entry all entrants thereby grant (A)WAY Magazine and Caravan Press the right release the entrant’s name and to publish their entry on www.awaymagazine.be and/or www.caravanpress.eu, or as may be necessary to exercise their rights under Paragraph 12. Entrants shall not submit any material that is libellous, illegal, offensive or which is in breach of the rights of a third party, and shall be liable to (A)WAY Magazine and Caravan Press for breaches of this provision. (A)WAY Magazine and Caravan Press reserve the right to redact, modify or amend any submission in such manner as they deem appropriate.
10. (A)WAY Magazine and Caravan Press cannot accept responsibility for entries which are not received or which are received after the closing date due to technical failure or for any other reason.
11. The winner agrees to participate in publicity events in connection with the competition.
12. Caravan Press and the competition entrants may enter into agreements which will grant Caravan Press the publishing, broadcasting, serial and electronic rights for any of the entries.
13. (A)WAY magazine and Caravan Press reserve the right to change the rules of this competition without notice. Changes will be notified on this site.
14. The winner of the competition will be notified in August 2011 and the winning entry published in the September/October edition of (A)WAY magazine and on www.awaymagazine.be and /or www.caravanpress.eu. If, within 30 days of having notified the winner at the e-mail address supplied, no response from the winner has been received (A)WAY magazine and Caravan Press are free to either publish the winner’s submission or the judges may select alternative winners from other submissions as they consider appropriate.
15. The decision of the competition judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
