Writing Competition 2009

What’s the story?

Once upon a time there was a magazine for families which held a children’s writing competition every year and gave some great prizes to the winners…

So, this is where you (and your very helpful teachers) come in! All you have to do is check the details below about your age group then write a story or a poem, illustrate it if you want to, and send it to us, preferably by e-mail. We will publish the names of the winners plus their stories in the September/October issue of (A)WAY.

Since last year’s decision to have a different subject for each age group seems to have met your approval, we have come up with two more ideas this time:

For the 13+ group, the title is “It was a dream come true…”
For the 8 to 12 years group, the subject is “The mystery parcel”

Your task is to write a story in English of between 150 and 450 words long – please help us by typing it on a computer so that we can publish as many stories as possible on our website. Send your entry (and pictures) to us to arrive no later than 30 June 2009. Each story must be clearly marked with the writer’s name, date of birth, address and name of school attended.

Prizes will be awarded to two winners and two runners-up in each group; and there will be a special poetry prize in each group, too.

13+ years:
First prize – tickets to Asterix Parc
Runners-up: Books
8 to 12 years:
