TIE’s Youth Theatre Group, now in its ninth year, offers children the chance to participate in drama on Saturday mornings during the school year. We currently have 70 members, aged from six to 18 years, divided into three age groups. Each group presents a production in the winter term with a “showcase” evening in the summer term. The middle term is given over to the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) examinations which offer our students an assessment of their progress, independent of our teachers. This year, 100% of the candidates achieved a pass or higher. These exams are accredited qualifications and will give university applicants tariff points in the U.K.
Outside of term time, we offer workshops and stages. Please check our website for more details of stages which take place in July each year.
We believe that theatre is a learning mechanism for important issues relevant to today and to the future, as well as being fun and confidence-building. As we say:
“That which we hear, we forget.
That which we read, we recall – for a while.
That which we do, we remember.”
Lynne Vaughan and Lorenda Elliott will be delighted to answer any enquiries concerning our activities. See our website www.theatreinenglish.be or e-mail info@theatreinenglish.be.

The Antwerp International Choir is a 'musical child' of members of the International Women's Contact Antwerp and the Antwerp International School in Ekeren. We found Marc van den Broek, a well known conductor of several other Belgian or Dutch choirs, prepared to take up the challenge. In 2005 the choir started as the Mixed International Choir of Antwerp, but within one year we discovered that male singers with an International background or interest were too busy to join, so we continued as a ladies group.
We prefer rather light, but varied and international music. It was fascinating and heartwarming for instance to learn the Japanese folksong 'Sakura' under guidance of our Japanese member and the popular 'vem kan segla' with help of our Norwegian friends.
Singing is a sport, an art and a way to relax. Very very special.
May music be our 'conductor' to help foreigners find a happy home in our Antwerp area and to promote further understanding and acceptance to all groups.
Our rehearsals are on Tuesday from 20 to 22 hour at the Antwerp International School in Ekeren.
